Why I Started RESET HQ

People ask me all the time how RESET HQ came to be — and honestly, it started long before the doors ever opened.
When I was playing semi-professional football in Melbourne, recovery wasn’t optional — it was survival. I was training hard, playing often, and if I wanted to keep my body going, I had to look after it properly. Sauna became a non-negotiable for me. One or two sessions a week, consistently. I felt better, recovered faster, and most importantly, I could perform for longer. That’s what kept me on the pitch.
When I eventually moved back to Perth, I noticed something straight away — there wasn’t really a dedicated recovery space here for athletes.
Not just elite athletes, but the ones grinding away behind the scenes. The ones working long hours, juggling jobs, FIFO swings, and still chasing big sporting goals.
That gap stuck with me. And that’s where RESET really began.
Recovery for Real Life Athletes
RESET HQ was never about creating a flashy day spa. It was about supporting people who are genuinely putting their bodies through work — whether that’s sport, training, or life in general.
I work with athletes from all walks of life. One of my clients is a boxer working his way up the ranks. He’s also a FIFO labourer. He finishes long shifts, flies home, and still expects his body to perform at a high level. That’s a massive load — physically and mentally.
So RESET isn’t just about managing training stress. It’s about balancing life load too.
I’ve been fortunate to work with athletes from elite teams, but I think what really helps is that I’ve been there myself. I understand the demands, the fatigue, and the pressure. That shared experience builds trust — and often, genuine friendships. Sport has a way of doing that.
What RESET Is Really About
RESET HQ exists so people can look after their bodies properly — not once every few months, but as part of their routine.
It’s a space for people who are trying. Who are training, competing, working hard, and pushing themselves in their own way. No egos. No judgement. Just good recovery, good people, and a place that feels real.
That’s always been the goal.

What We Actually Do Here (And Why It Works)
At RESET, everything we offer has a purpose.
Our infrared saunas run at around 70°C. They’re full-spectrum, designed specifically for muscle recovery, helping penetrate the tissue faster and get blood flow moving. Traditional saunas are great too — they’re just built for slightly different outcomes, like longevity over longer sessions.
Our ice baths sit around 10–12°C. Cold enough to support recovery, not so cold that it becomes a mental endurance test. We’re not here to punish you — we’re here to help your body perform better.
Then there are the compression pants, which are incredible for circulation and muscle repair. They compress and release the legs to encourage blood flow, which is key when you’re dealing with soreness, swelling, or micro-tears. Pressure levels vary depending on the person — it’s always about what your body can tolerate.
We also have an activation and mobility area with rollers, trigger point tools, bands, and bikes. That space is free for clients to use — whether it’s warming up, cooling down, or just working through tight spots before a session.
Recovery doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be consistent.
Sports Massage, Remedial Work & Listening to the Body
Our sports and remedial treatments are very different from relaxation massage — and that’s intentional.
We work deep. Trigger points, dry needling, cupping, orthopaedic testing — the goal is function and performance, not just feeling nice for an hour. That said, it’s always tailored. Some clients love deep work. Others need lighter treatment depending on where they’re at.
There’s no “one size fits all” here. We look at how your body responds, how you recover, and what you’re training for. That might mean treatment two days before a competition, or it might mean spacing things out more.
The most important thing? Knowing your own body — and respecting it.
The Vibe at RESET HQ
If you’re expecting a luxury spa experience where everyone whispers and poses for Instagram — this probably isn’t the place.
RESET is raw, industrial, and relaxed. Concrete floors, ice pools, no pressure to look a certain way. You don’t need makeup. You don’t need matching activewear. You just need to show up and do what your body needs.
People chat. People connect. Athletes from completely different sports end up sitting in the same ice bath, swapping stories and advice. Younger athletes get to train and recover alongside people they look up to. That’s one of my favourite parts — it breaks down barriers.
And of course… there’s Sonny.

Sonny
Sonny started out as me bringing my puppy to work. Now he’s basically staff.
People request him. Genuinely. I’ve had clients say, “I’m excited to see you, Jess — but please tell me Sonny will be there too.”
He wanders around, jumps up for cuddles, and somehow makes even the toughest recovery sessions feel lighter. He’s calm, friendly, and exactly the kind of energy we want in the space.
Honestly, Sonny might be the main event.
